Monte Hacho y la Mirador de la Cruz

Start Point:
Make your way to Alora train station - Google "RENFE Alora" and click on the MAPS tab. Plenty of parking. Try to get to the station for around 09.50 - there is a small cafe here where you can get coffee and toast. At 10.22 we will take the local Alora bus up into Alora pueblo. (5/10 minutes, 1.55). This bus arrives at the train station to meet the C2 Cercania train from Malaga and is very useful as without it we would have a steep uphill walk into Alora pueblo. If coming by train take the 09.46 from Victoria Kent to Alora.

I have graded this walk as HARD but in fact it's an "easy" HARD and not a "hard" HARD. Monte Hacho and the Mirador de la Cruz (Viewing point of the Cross) both overlook Alora and many of you will have seen the white cross on the edge of the cliff immediately behind Alora. From Alora pueblo we walk up to the summit of Monte Hacho and then along a plateau towards the Cross. 200 metres before the cross we stop at a mobile phone mast and here we will have lunch for those who have brought sandwiches. We will not actually walk all the way to the Cross and if you're wondering why you will soon see when you look at the last 200 metres - distinctly "hairy" - although many Senderistas have done it in the past. Now we back track for about 2.5 kms before turning onto a new path back to Alora pueblo, thus making this walk more or less circular. Bring plenty of water, sandwiches if you like - otherwise we will have a Menu del Dia in Alora pueblo.
